Vamos ist eine kleine Stadt in der Region Apokoronas und gilt als Verwaltungszentrum der gesamten Region. Es ist von einer sehr grünen Gegend umgeben, nur wenige Kilometer von der Küste entfernt. Viele Touristen besuchen Vamos oder bleiben im Dorf oder in den umliegenden Dörfern Gavalochori und Kalyves. Es gibt viel Infrastruktur im Dorf, einschließlich des Rathauses, eines großen medizinischen Zentrums, des Hofes und des Gymnasiums der Region sowie mehrerer Restaurants, Snackbars und Geschäfte, die größtenteils der örtlichen Gemeinde dienen. Unterhalb des modernen Dorfplatzes, auf der Spitze des Hügels, befindet sich das alte Dorf Vamos. Einige der alten Häuser wurden als Touristenunterkünfte umgebaut. Vamos liegt nur 19 km vom Hafen von Souda und 34 km vom Flughafen Chania entfernt.

Vamos is a small town in the region of Apokoronas and ti is considered to be the administrative centre of the whole region. It is surrounded by a very green area, just a few kilometres from the coast. Many tourists visit Vamos or stay in the village or in the surrounding villages of Gavalochori and Kalyves. There is much infrastructure in the village including the town hall, a large medical centre, the court and the high school of the region, as well as several restaurants, snack bars and shops, largely serving the local community. Below the modern village square, at the top of the hill, is the old village of Vamos. Several of the old houses have been rebuilt as tourist accommodation. Vamos is just 19 kms away from Souda port and 34 kms from the airport of Chania.
