Souda ist ein Gemeindebezirk und liegt in der gleichnamigen Bucht von Souda, wo man einen der tiefsten natürlichen Häfen des Mittelmeeres findet. Souda ist nur etwa 7 km süd-östlich vom Zentrum Chanias entfernt und wird nach Norden von der Halbinsel Akrotiri eingeschlossen. In nächster Umgebung gibt es etliche sehenswürdige Ausflugsziele, zu denen vor allem Festungen und zahlreiche Kirchen sowie Klöster zählen. Dazu schöne Strände und die köstliche kretische Küche in den urigen Tavernen.

Souda is a municipality and is located in the bay of the same name, Souda, where one of the deepest natural harbors in the Mediterranean can be found. Souda is only about 7 km south-east of the center of Chania and is enclosed to the north by the Akrotiri peninsula. In the immediate vicinity there are a number of interesting excursion destinations, including fortresses and numerous churches and monasteries. In addition, there are beautiful beaches and delicious Cretan cuisine in the rustic taverns.
