Plaka ist eines der traditionsreichsten Dörfer Kretas an einem Hang mit Blick auf die Bucht von Souda. Das wunderschöne Dorf im Regionalbezirk Chania hat alle notwendigen Annehmlichkeiten, einschließlich einer ausgezeichneten Taverne, Bars, Lebensmittelgeschäft und Cafés, die das ganze Jahr geöffnet bleiben. Das Dorf ist nur drei Autominuten vom Sandstrand von Almyrida und fünf Minuten vom Dorf Kalives entfernt. Die Entfernung der historischen Stadt Chania beträgt 27 km, ca. 25-30 Autominuten. Plaka is one of the most traditional villages in Crete on a slope overlooking Souda Bay. The inhabitants are mainly concerned with their farms (olives, vineyards, gardens) and produce very good oil, wine the traditional Cretan drink tsikoudia (raki). A large number of residents are engaged in tourism as the area has become a temperate resort in recent years. Some others tend their sheep and goats or are fishermen.
