Phalasarna bezeichnet eine antike Hafenstadt an der Westküste der Halbinsel Gramvousa. Die heutige Ansiedlung Falasarna (auch Falassarna) befindet sich südlich der Ruinen von Phalasarna entlang der Küste der Bucht von Livadia. Haupteinnahmequelle der dort ansässigen Kreter ist Landwirtschaft, so finden sich unzählige Gewächshäuser in denen hauptsächlich Tomaten, aber auch Bananen gezogen werden. Auch Tourismus ist immer stärker auf dem Vormarsch, aufgrund der herrlichen Sandstrände, dem kristallklaren türkisen Wasser und dem antiken Hafen. Es gibt Restaurants und Cafés direkt am Strand oder in der Nähe, sowie zwei kleine Läden, wo man das Wichtigste findet.

Phalasarna is the name of an ancient port city on the west coast of the Gramvousa peninsula. The current settlement of Falasarna (also Falassarna) is located south of the ruins of Phalasarna along the coast of the Bay of Livadia. The main source of income for the Cretans living there is agriculture, so there are countless greenhouses in which mainly tomatoes, but also bananas, are grown. Tourism is also on the rise, due to the wonderful sandy beaches, the crystal clear turquoise water and the ancient port. There are restaurants and cafes right on the beach or nearby, as well as two small shops where you can find the most important things.
