Perama ist eine Kleinstadt im Bezirk Geropotamos, der von der Nordküste Kretas liegt. Sein Gebiet ist geprägt durch Schafzucht und Landwirtschaft.
Vier Kilometer östlich des Dorfes Perama liegt die Melidoni-Höhle (Gerontospilios), die bereits in minoischer Zeit als Kultstätte diente. Ebenfalls nicht weit entfernt liegt in südlicher Richtung das Dörfchen Eleftherna, das von Siedlungsresten aus unterschiedlichsten Epochen umgeben ist, die bis in die minoische Zeit zurückreichen. Am eindrucksvollsten sind riesige, in den Fels gehauene Wasserspeicher aus der römischen Epoche.

Perama is a small town in the Geropotamos district, which lies on the north coast of Crete. Its area is characterized by sheep breeding and agriculture.
Four kilometers east of the village of Perama is the Melidoni Cave (Gerontospilios), which was already used as a place of worship in Minoan times. Also not far away to the south is the village of Eleftherna, which is surrounded by remains of settlements from a wide variety of eras, dating back to the Minoan period. The most impressive are huge water reservoirs carved into the rock from the Roman era.
