Nea Kydonia erstreckt sich westlich von Chania und verfügt über eine lange Küste mit wunderschönen Stränden, die sich bis zur Halbinsel Rodopou erstreckt. Es ist eine lebhafte Gegend mit hoher Tourismusaktivität im Sommer mit vielen touristischen Feriengebieten wie den Dörfern Platanias und Agia Marina mit ihrer Fülle an Hotels, Restaurants, Cafés, Clubs und Geschäften. Etwas landeinwärts von der Küste erwartet den Besucher eine üppige Landschaft mit vor allem Zitrusplantagen und einer Vielzahl traditioneller Dörfer, die bei Tagesausflügen besucht werden können. Das Dorf Galatas ist für seine Geschichte bekannt, da es Schauplatz vieler Schlachten ist und das Schlachtdenkmal von Kreta und ein Museum auf seinem zentralen Platz beherbergt. Im Dorf Alikianos kann man die Kirche von Ai Kyr Giannis und in Meskla die Brunnen und die byzantinische Kirche Christi besichtigen.

Nea Kydonia stretches west of Chania and has a long coastline with beautiful beaches that extend to the Rodopou peninsula. It is a lively area with high tourist activity in the summer with many tourist resort areas such as the villages of Platanias and Agia Marina with their abundance of hotels, restaurants, cafes, clubs and shops. A little inland from the coast, a lush landscape awaits the visitor with mainly citrus plantations and a large number of traditional villages that can be visited on day trips. The village of Galatas is known for its history as it is the site of many battles and is home to the Battle Monument of Crete and a museum in its central square. In the village of Alikianos you can visit the church of Ai Kyr Giannis and in Meskla the fountains and the Byzantine church of Christ.
