Kalyves ist ein malerisches Fischerdorf, 19 km von Chania und 42 km von Rethymno entfernt. Das Dorf ist amphitheatralisch am kalivianischen Strand und auf zwei Hügeln gebaut, darunter der Fluss Xydas, der das Dorf auf zwei Seiten trennt, die durch malerische Brücken verbunden sind.

Kalyves is a picturesque fishing village 19 km from Chania and 42 km from Rethymno. The village is built amphitheatrically along the Kalivian beach and on two hills, among which passes the Xydas River that separates the village on two sides that connected by picturesque bridges.
The central beach of Kalyves is a sandy beach of about five hundred meters, with shallow waters. Along the beach there are umbrellas and sun loungers. A great advantage of the beach in Kalyves is that there are large trees in the whole of it, so bathers can find natural shade.
