Obwohl der Strand im Sommer sehr beliebt ist, bleibt Kalathas dennoch eine ruhige Gegend und ein idealer Ort zum Entspannen und Erholen am Meer. In Kounoupidiana, nur 2 Autominuten entfernt, gibt es einige Cafés, Tavernen und Minimärkte mit allen Annehmlichkeiten, darunter große Supermärkte, Banken und ein Postamt. Die historische Stadt Chania und der Flughafen sind nur 12 Autominuten entfernt.

Kalathas is located on a small natural bay on the Akrotiri peninsula and has one of the best sandy beaches in the region with clear, shallow water. Although the beach is very popular in summer, Kalathas still remains a quiet area and an ideal place to relax and unwind by the sea. In Kounoupidiana, only 2 minutes away by car, there are some cafes, taverns and mini markets with all amenities, including large supermarkets, banks and a post office. The historic city of Chania and the airport are only 12 minutes away by car.
