Alikianos

Das südwestlich von Chania gelegene Dorf Alikianos gehört zur Gemeinde Moussoura. Der Ort ist als Gedenkort bekannt, da er während der deutschen Besatzung Kretas 1941 zweimal Schauplatz von Massakern an der Zivilbevölkerung wurde.
Alikianos liegt in einer üppigen grünen Gegend, eingebettet in riesige Orangenplantagen. Die meisten Einwohner beschäftigen sich mit Landwirtschaft und Viehzucht. Das Dorf besteht aus modernen und traditionellen Steinhäusern.
Eine berühmte Sehenswürdigkeit in Alikianos ist der Turm „Da Molin“, der im Mittelalter einem venezianischen Herrscher der Region gehörte.

The village of Alikianos, southwest of Chania, belongs to the municipality of Moussoura. The place is known as a memorial site because it was the site of massacres of civilians twice during the German occupation of Crete in 1941.
Alikianos is located in a lush green area, nestled in huge orange plantations. Most of the residents are engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry. The village consists of modern and traditional stone houses.
A famous sight in Alikianos is the „Da Molin“ tower, which belonged to a Venetian ruler of the region in the Middle Ages.
